Mount Carmel festival to begin
There will be fireworks at 11 p.m. next Wednesday to close out festival activities.

GIRARD — The annual Mount Carmel Festival sponsored by the Italian Fraternal Home will start Saturday and continue through the actual feast date of Our Lady of Mount Carmel next Wednesday.
Food and entertainment in a family-style setting will be provided each night of the festival on the grounds of the Italian Fraternal Home, 33 W. Wilson Ave. Chairman of the event this year is Ray Ragozzine and his co-chairman is Myron Esposito.
The St. Rose Women’s Mount Carmel Society will be running bingo nightly from 6 to 11 p.m. in a tent, and a dunking booth will be sponsored by the high school.
Food booths and games will also be featured.
These bands will entertain crowds nightly from 8 to 11 p.m. unless otherwise listed:
USaturday, First Degree.
USunday, 5 to 7 p.m., The Girard Community Band and in the evening, Cleveland Flats.
UMonday, Frank Gallo.
UTuesday, Mike Roncone;
UWednesday, from 5 to 7 p.m., The Girard Jazz Band, a 20-piece band comprising professionals from the Girard Community Band; and from 8 to 11 p.m., St. Marguerite’s Blue Coat Band from New Castle, Pa.
The annual parade will be at 10:30 a.m. next Wednesday from the festival grounds to St. Rose Church for an 11 a.m. Mass.
Fireworks by Zambelli Fireworks will end the festival at the Girard Viaduct at 11 p.m. The viaduct will be closed off for the fireworks.
