Family Dollar robber gets four-year prison term

YOUNGSTOWN — A South Side man is going to prison for four years for robbing a discount store.

Judge Maureen A. Sweeney of Mahoning County Common Pleas Court imposed that sentence Tuesday on Willie A. Hendrix, 30, of West Indianola Avenue, who pleaded guilty to the Feb. 12 aggravated robbery of the Family Dollar store, 2708 Glenwood Ave.

The store manager said the handgun-toting robber escaped with $133. Following a tip from a witness and fresh tracks in the snow, police went to a house in the 2700 block of nearby Reel Avenue, where they arrested Hendrix. Police said Hendrix admitted robbing the store.
