Electrical power on at Trumbull County Fairgrounds
BAZETTA — The Trumbull County Fair had its power back on this morning, but around 400 customers around the fairgrounds remained without it. Ohio Edison hoped to have all power back on by this afternoon.
A Tuesday evening thunderstorm knocked down trees and power lines near the Fairgrounds, at the corner of Hoagland-Blackstub and Everett-Hull Roads in Bazetta Township, and throughout northern Trumbull County, said LuAnn Koch, Trumbull County manager for Ohio Edison.
In all, the storms knocked out service to about 9,000 customers north of the City of Warren stretching to the northern county line, but most of those customers returned to service within about an hour, Koch said.
Frank Fuda, Trumbull County commissioner, said the storm knocked out power to the fairgrounds at around 6 p.m., and put a stop to most activities on the grounds for the evening. Only a couple of food stands had their own generators, and most visitors had left the grounds within an hour or so of the power going out, he said.
Ohio Edison brought in extra crews to assist with the damage done as a result of the downed power lines and trees, Koch said. Customers near the downed trees and power lines were the final customers to have their power restored, she said.
