Borts Pool fight leads to arrest

staff report

YOUNGSTOWN — A 16-year-old Hudson Avenue girl was arrested on felonious assault charges after a large fight at Borts Pool left three teenage girls with razor blade cuts.

When police arrived around 6 p.m. Monday, they saw girls fighting in the parking lot west of the pool on North Belle Vista Avenue on the West Side. The crowd began to disperse in all directions.

Officers then found the three injured girls nearby in the 100 block of Millet Avenue — one of whom had six to eight deep cuts on her back. The second girl was cut on the right side of her chest, and the third girl had a cut on her left forearm.

The victims, 18, 18 and 14, said they were all cut with a razor blade by the same girl during the fight and gave a description of the car she might be in. Police found the car in the pool’s parking lot, with the suspect sitting inside, along with her mother.

No motive was given for the fight.

Police found a box cutter with an inch-long blade in the parking lot.

The victims were taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center for stitches. The suspect was taken to the Martin P. Joyce Juvenile Justice Center to face three counts of felonious assault.
