Torch Club and members honored at convention


LANCASTER, Pa. — Youngstown Torch Club and two of its members were honored at the annual International Association of Torch Clubs Convention at the Eden Resort Inn and Conference Center on June 25-29.

The club was selected as the Outstanding Club of Region 5. The award is conferred upon a club whose membership is growing, whose members are published in Torch Magazine, and whose members support and promote the principles of Torch.

Region 5 includes Torch Clubs in Akron, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Toledo and Nashville, Tenn.

Milton R. Norris received the Silver Torch Award, which recognizes his contributions at the local level. He has served in a number of key positions, including president from 1995-96.

Janet Moy LaMonica received the Editor’s Quill Award for her paper, “Pass or Fail? The Politics and Dilemmas of Educational Testing,” which appeared in the Spring issue of Torch. This award is not presented annually, but at the editor’s discretion.
