ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Evan Longoria hit a two-run homer during a four-run third as Tampa Bay won its seventh straight. James Shields (7-5) gave up two runs and four hits over seven innings to win his third consecutive start. He struck out eight and walked one. Esteban German drove in both runs for the Royals, who have lost seven of nine.
White Sox 4, Athletics 3
CHICAGO — John Danks set a career high with nine strikeouts, and the White Sox handed Rich Harden his first loss in a year. Danks (6-4) took a no-hitter into the sixth as the White Sox salvaged a four-game split after dropping the first two. Chicago has won 10 of its last 13 games. Harden (5-1) struggled with his control in his first loss since last July 7. He allowed two earned runs and five hits in five innings, struck out four and walked four.
Rangers 11, Orioles 10
BALTIMORE — David Murphy hit a three-run homer and Ian Kinsler got three singles to extend his hitting streak to 18 games. Kevin Millwood (6-4) lasted five innings to get the win and C.J. Wilson ended the ragged affair in appropriate fashion, giving up homers by Kevin Millar and Melvin Mora in the ninth before striking out Brian Roberts to seal his 21st save.
Tigers 2, Mariners 1, 15 innings
SEATTLE — The Mariners used backup catcher Jamie Burke as a pitcher in the 15th and the Tigers took advantage, scoring the winning run on Marcus Thames’ sacrifice fly. Aquilino Lopez (3-1) survived an error from left fielder Clete Thomas in the 14th to get the win and Todd Jones recorded the final three outs for his 16th save in 17 chances.
Angels 7, Blue Jays 1
ANAHEIM, Calif. — Jon Garland pitched a six-hitter for his 100th major league victory, Jeff Mathis tied a career high with three RBIs and Juan Rivera homered for the Angels. Garland (8-5) went the distance for the ninth time in 241 career starts and first in 18 outings with Los Angeles.

Cubs 7, Cardinals 1
ST. LOUIS — Aramis Ramirez had two hits and three RBIs, Geovany Soto hit his 15th homer and Derrek Lee had three hits and an RBI for the Cubs, who took two of three from the second-place Cardinals and won for only the fourth time in 11 games overall. Ryan Ludwick, selected for his first All-Star game earlier in the day, hit his 17th homer and first since June 11 for the Cardinals.
Mets 4, Phillies 2, 12 innings
PHILADELPHIA — Fernando Tatis hit a two-run homer in the 12th inning, ending a game more than seven hours after it started. Jayson Werth hit a two-run shot off Billy Wagner with two outs in the ninth to send the game into extra innings after it was delayed 2 hours, 50 minutes because of heavy rain in the bottom of the eighth.
Dodgers 5, Giants 3
SAN FRANCISCO — James Loney doubled twice and drove in three runs and Los Angeles beat San Francisco for its third consecutive series win. Andre Ethier added three hits and drove in a run for the Dodgers, who have won eight of their past 10 road games. Matt Kemp also drove in a run.
Braves 7, Astros 6, 17 innings
ATLANTA — Mark Teixeira singled off the wall with the bases loaded in the 17th inning, ending longest game in Turner Field history. Rain delayed the start of the game by 1 hour, 50 minutes, and solid pitching extended it much longer. The Braves rallied with two runs in the eighth inning to tie it, and each team had several chances to score the go-ahead run.
Diamondbacks 3, Padres 2
PHOENIX — Randy Johnson struck out 10 and allowed three hits in 61‚Ñ3 innings and Justin Upton hit the second-longest home run in Chase Field history. Mark Reynolds also homered for the Diamondbacks, who went 3-4 on their seven-game homestand. Scott Hairston hit his second leadoff homer of the season for the Padres.
Marlins 10, Rockies 5
DENVER — Cody Ross homered and drove in five runs, Chris Volstad tossed two scoreless innings to win his major league debut. Ross knocked in 15 runs in the four-game series after coming to Colorado with just 12 RBIs this season.
Reds 6, Nationals 5
CINCINNATI — Adam Dunn hit a three-run homer that started Cincinnati’s comeback, and the Reds completed a four-game series sweep. Edinson Volquez (11-3) got the victory and was chosen for his first All-Star team, Cincinnati’s only representative.
