Reception honors Mr. and Mrs. Vasko on 50th anniversary

X POLAND — Family and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Vasko of Poland attended a reception July 5 at The Elm Tree in Struthers to offer their congratulations on the occasion of the couple’s 50th wedding anniversary.

Hosts for the celebration were the Vaskos’ son and daughter-in-law, Joseph and Doralene Vasko of Boardman, and their daughter and son-in-Law, Cindy and Rob Smitek of Elyria. They also have four grandchildren, Kaycee and Abbie Smitek and Steven and Matthew Vasko.

Mr. Vasko and the former Catherine Kusalaba were united in marriage June 28,1958, at Holy Name of Jesus Church in Youngstown and are members of St. Charles Church in Boardman.

Mrs. Vasko , who is known as Kay, worked in the office of Mahoning Valley Supply Co. before her children were born. After they were grown, she returned to work.

Mr. Vasko, a U.S. Navy veteran, worked at Buick Youngstown and later at Auto Dynamics in Youngstown. The couple are now retired.
