Receives his degree
John Martin Yosay of Boardman has received his doctor of medicine degree from the University of Toledo College of Medicine.
Dr. Yosay is a 2000 honors graduate of Boardman High School and graduated cum laude from Miami University in Oxford in 2004 with a bachelor of arts in zoology. As an undergraduate, Dr. Yosay was chosen to participate in a study-abroad program during the summer of 2002 at Oxford University, Oxford, England.
He has begun a three-year residency at the Naval Hospital in Jacksonville, Fla., where he has been commissioned as a lieutenant in the medical corps. Dr. Yosay is the son of John and Linda Yosay of Boardman.
HONORS
Graduates from program
Howland Fire Capt. James Pantalone has graduated from the Ohio Fire Executive program, a 21‚Ñ2-year executive education program.
Pantalone began the program in June 2006. Graduation signifies one of the highest levels of achievement in the fire service.
The program is administered by the Ohio Fire and Emergency Foundation of the Ohio Fire Chiefs’ Association. It’s designed to provide fire and emergency service officers with the educational experience focused on the development of skills used by effective leaders.
Chosen as president-elect
Joseph V. Warino, Mahoning County Sanitary Engineer, has been chosen president-elect of the Ohio Society of Professional Engineers. As president-elect, he will help guide the legislative, educational and service activities for the engineering profession in Ohio.
Warino earned a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Youngstown State University. He is a past president of the Mahoning Valley Chapter of OSPE and, beginning this month, the immediate past president of the Engineers Foundation of Ohio, OSPE’s educational foundation. Warino and his wife, Linda, live in Canfield.
Earnes engineers award
John Ritter, Ph.D.,of Youngstown, has earned the Engineers Foundation of Ohio President’s Award.
This award was given to Ritter in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the goals and objectives of EFO. As a dedicated volunteer for EFO, Ritter has been a strong leader in the state and chapter level MATHCOUNTS programs.
MATHCOUNTS is a national math enrichment, coaching and competition program that promotes middle school mathematics achievement in every U.S. state and territory. In Ohio, it is sponsored by EFO.
Ritter is retired from Youngstown State University. He graduated from Carnegie Mellon University. He is a member of OSPE’s Mahoning Valley Chapter.

Will serve on state board
James E. “Ted” Roberts of Roth, Blair, Roberts, Strasfeld Lodge law firm in Youngstown has been elected to serve a three-year term as District 13 representative on the Board of Governors of the Ohio State Bar Association. District 13 includes 502 members who practice in Columbiana and Mahoning counties.
Area lawyers at an OSBA district meeting several months ago elected Roberts to his new post. He will succeed Salem attorney Ian Robinson of Fitch, Kendall, Cecil, Robinson & Barry Co., LPA, whose term concluded June 30.
The 24-member Board of Governors meets monthly to manage the association’s business affairs, set policy, review pending legislation and conduct other business on behalf of OSBA members.
Roberts earned his bachelor’s degree from Youngstown State University and his law degree from the University of Akron School of Law. Before becoming a lawyer, he was a social studies teacher. He also served as part-time in-house counsel for the Youngstown Board of Education and as first assistant law director for the city of Youngstown.
