Stray firework suspected in garage blaze
CAMPBELL — Fire, possibly sparked by someone shooting off fireworks, destroyed a Woodland Avenue garage and two vehicles.
The Campbell Fire Department was called to the Virginia Krall residence just after 10 p.m. Friday, and it took almost two hours to extinguish the blaze.
Damages for the homeowner alone were estimated to be about $70,000. Gene Skelley, acting fire chief, said a 2008 Buick Enclave and a Dodge Ram pickup truck were lost in the fire. Some windows and siding on the house were also damaged.
Krall’s neighbor had damage to his 1998 Chevrolet pickup truck and a shed in his backyard.
Skelley said the fire was most likely started by some type of rocket, which a witness saw fly into the structure. Krall, who was on vacation at the time, returned home after hearing of the fire.
The department said it has no suspects but will continue to look investigate.
