LIBERTY — Temple El Emeth. 3970 Loganway, will host a musical program featuring Magda Fishman and Yuval Cohen at 7:30 p.m. July 17. Though the concert and other events are free, reservations are required by calling the temple office at (330) 759-1429 by Friday.

A Kabbalat Shabbat service and oneg is planned at 7 p.m. July 18 and a Shabbat service at 9:30 a.m. July 19 with a luncheon following.

Fishman has performed with the Israeli Army Orchestra and is a student at the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York. She will lead Shabbat services.

Retired pastor to preach

YOUNGSTOWN — The Rev. Dr. D. Larry Kline, retired senior pastor of Trinity United Methodist Church, will give the message “The American Family” at the 10 a.m. service Sunday at First Presbyterian Church, 201 Wick Ave.

He is in his 16th year of broadcasting a Sunday morning Word and Music program airing at 7 a.m. on WKBN 57 AM.

Farewell service

CANFIELD — A service of farewell and Godspeed was June 15 at Lord of Life Lutheran Church, 550 N. Broad St., for the Rev. Constance L. Mentzer, who served as pastor since 1997.

She and her husband, the Rev. Timothy Mentzer, and son are moving to Lancaster, Pa., where he will be senior pastor at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.

Concert at church

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — The second annual Inspireworks concert is planned from 6 to 8 p.m. next Saturday in the parking lot at First Presbyterian Church, 125 N. Jefferson St.

Featured will be Catalyst of the Church of Genesis, Danny Natale and Doug McIltrot.

In case of rain, the concert will be canceled.

Sunday school revival

YOUNGSTOWN — Mount Olive Fire Baptized Holiness Church, 124 W. Marion Ave., will have a Sunday school revival at 7 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday. Speaker will be the Rev. Mary Kidd, pastor of Mount Sinai Fire Baptized Holiness Church in Wellsville.

Healing drum circle

VILLA MARIA, Pa. — Villa Maria Education and Spirituality Center will host a healing drum circle from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the outdoor labyrinth at Villa Maria Community Center.

Facilitator Pat Evans-Morris is a licensed mental health counselor, licensed chemical dependency counselor and national presenter of rhythm therapy and yoga seminars. She has taught drum therapy, dancing and the healing arts for 27 years.

Celebrations planned

CAMPBELL — The Pastor’s Aide of Faith Temple Missionary Baptist Church, 125 Roosevelt Drive, will host two pre-anniversary celebrations with the theme “He Gave Some Pastors” from Ephesians 4:11. The Rev. Walter Gillespie Jr. will mark his first anniversary July 20 as pastor.

Christ Community Church and the Rev. Bill Rotar will participate in an event set at 4 p.m. Sunday and July 13. The True Vine Out Reach Ministry and the Rev. William Burney will participate at 4 p.m. July 13.

Guest pastor

EAST PALESTINE — The Rev. John Hersh of Ozer Ministries will be the guest speaker at the 10:30 a.m. service Sunday at First United Presbyterian Church, 109 W. Rebecca St. The Rev. Mr. Hersh and his wife, Daryl, founded Ozer Ministries, which is a counseling/mentoring ministry in East Palestine, some 20 years ago.

Meditation series

VILLA MARIA, Pa. — Villa Maria Education and Spirituality Center will offer its eighth program in its ongoing 2008 Global Mediation Series with an exploration of transmission meditation. The program is planned from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. July 19 at Villa Maria Community Center.

Leaders will be Sheila Forester, who has been a transmission meditation facilitator in Pittsburgh since 1990 and is the regional coordinator for Transmission Meditation in seven states, and Mary Beth Steisslinger, a restoration and systems biologist and artist working with the Urban Ecology Collaborative in Pittsburgh.
