YSU gets National Science Foundation grant


YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown State University has been awarded a $149,499 National Science Foundation grant to buy equipment for its general chemistry lab. The award was announced by U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan of Niles, D-17th, who noted it came jut a week after the head of the NSF, Dr. Arden L. Bement Jr., toured YSU’s chemistry department and cut a ribbon opening a new chemistry research lab.

Dr. Timothy Wagner, professor of chemistry, secured the grant and said it will provide funding for a new X-ray machine and a UV ray-visible spectrometer to be used by undergraduate students in research projects.
