ASH, England — England’s Ross Fisher had 10 birdies in a course-record 9-under 63 to take a two-stroke lead over Northern Ireland’s Graeme McDowell and South Africa’s David Frost after the first round.

Fisher broke the record of 64 set by Seve Ballesteros in 1994 on The London Golf Club’s Heritage Course Justin Rose opened with 69, defending champion Colin Montgomerie shot a 70 and Sergio Garcia had a 71.
