Bar association honors members

YOUNGSTOWN — Attys. Solomon Malkoff and Michael C. Clemente received the distinguished service award from the Mahoning County Bar Association at its annual election banquet at the Youngstown Country Club.

The award is given to judges or lawyers who have provided exemplary service to the association and the community.

Honored for their years as lawyers were: Thomas L. Corroto and Norman A. Rheuban, 60 years; Leonard A. Olson and Don L. Hanni Jr., 55 years; Judge Charles J. Bannon and Attys. Arthur L. Close Jr., Chester W. Horlick and Milan A. Latas, 50 years.

Atty. Joseph D. DeSanto was recognized for his 18 years as association secretary-treasurer.

At the banquet, Atty. James B. Dietz succeeded Atty. J. Gerald Ingram as association president. Atty. Scott R. Cochran is president-elect.

Elected to three-year terms as trustees were Attys. Shirley J. Christian, Edward J. Hartwig and Robert N. Rusu. Atty. J. Michael Thompson was elected to a two-year term as trustee. Atty. Gregg A. Rossi was elected to a two-year term as secretary-treasurer.

Atty. Alan R. Kretzer, president of the bar association foundation, announced in a press release that 11 scholarships have been provided to area law school students.
