R&J has 11-4 win in Big B playoff

STRUTHERS — Evan Campbell had a pair of triples and drove home three runs, while Brad Byers had two hits and drove home four as R J Trucking knocked off Simon Roofing 11-4 in the opening game of the Class Big B Playoffs on Wednesday at Cene Park.

Game two of the best-of-three series is 8 p.m. tonight on Cene 1.

Nick Baimonte went the first five innings for the win, allowing two runs on six hits. Joe Wielbruda added a pair of singles for the winners while Ross Revella, Matt Durkin, and Evan Bollinger had two hits each for Simon Roofing, which had four errors.

Late Tuesday Astro Falcons 14, Wharmby Sports 8

Shane Wagner had three hits, including a double and a triple, while Mark Lapikas and TJ Rosenberg each had a pair of hits and three RBIs for Astro (20-7), which clinched a first round bye.

Mike Tomko had three hits for Wharmby (9-18), while Brian Szabo and Ross Lopez added two hits each.

Dave Sugar 11, Livi Steel 2

Ryan Nisbett had three hits, while Todd Kibby and Jonathan Brady added two for Dave Sugar. (20-7).

Nick Crum (2-1) got the win in relief.

Dan Perkins (1-2) allowed three earned runs in 51‚Ñ3 innings of work to get the loss for Livi (11-16).

Roth Brothers 4, Youngstown Express 1

Pat Mulligan (6-3) went the first five innings for the win for Roth (10-17), which finished its season.

He had seven strikeouts and finished the season with 75 strikeouts in 612‚Ñ3 innings of work, both league highs. Mulligan also had a pair of hits.

Jason Fithian suffered the loss and also had two hits for the Express (5-22).

Class little b playoffs

Wharmby 5, Yo. Express 2

Ian Dunn had three hits, while Jimmy Doban added two for Wharmby while Mike Ryffe tossed a complete game five-hitter with four strikeouts as Wharmby beat Youngstown Express to take a 1-0 lead in their Class little b first round playoff game on Wednesday.

Erik French and Bob Schmid had two hits each for the Express.

Livi Steel 6, Simon Roofing 5

Livi Steel scored an unearned run in the bottom of the seventh inning to defeat Simon in their opening round playoff game.

Jay Rowland had two of the three hits by the winning Livi team while Tyler Chapin tossed a complete game with 10 strikeouts for the win.

Zac Anderson went the distance with seven strikeouts and suffered the loss for Simon, which got two hits from Chris Consentino.
