Indictment comes in Trumbull County murder

WARREN — A 26-year-old Burghill man has been indicted by the Trumbull County grand jury on charges of aggravated murder and abuse of a corpse.

Nathan A. Riggs, of state Route 7, was named Thursday in a special grand jury report in the murder of his girlfriend, 31-year-old Tracia W. Wade.

Riggs was arrested by sheriff’s deputies June 27 after he told his mother he had killed Wade, the mother of four, in the garage of Wade’s home at 4918 Bushnell-Campbell Road in Vernon Township, authorities said. He was living with her.

Riggs is in the county jail in lieu of a $2 million bond. He will be arraigned at 9 a.m. Tuesday before Judge Andrew Logan of Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.

Sheriff Thomas Altiere has said that Riggs confessed that he bludgeoned Wade with a hammer in the garage of her home. She was found dead on a couch in the garage.

After the slaying, Altiere said, Riggs called his mother, who in turn called 911.
