Two vacant Youngstown house fires are arson
YOUNGSTOWN — Arson is the cause of fires at two vacant houses Tuesday, one on Steel Street and the second on Devon Avenue.
The fire at 1056 Devon, reported at 8:15 p.m., caused an estimated $8,000 damage, according to the fire department. Firefighters said the structure was enveloped in flames when they arrived and they allowed it to burn down. The owner is Floyd Huff of Hunter Avenue
The fire at 524 Steel, reported at 10:20 p.m., caused extensive damage to the two-story wood frame and brick building. Firefighters estimated the damage to be $15,000 to the building and $2,000 to its contents. The owner is Richard Stiles of Burkey Road.
