Teen girl, family sue school over rapes
PITTSBURGH (AP) — A 15-year-old girl and her family are accusing the Upper St. Clair School District and several school officials of failing to protect her from a series of rapes at the high school.
The unidentified girl filed a federal lawsuit Monday, alleging she was repeatedly assaulted by a male freshman both on and off school grounds. The lawsuit says a teacher knew of the assaults but failed to take the necessary measures to prevent it from happening again.
A 14-year-old Upper St. Clair High School freshman was arrested in February. The unidentified teenager has been charged with raping three girls and sexually assaulting a fourth.
The names of those involved have not been released because the case is being handled in juvenile court.
