Buy from licensed retailers.

Follow your local and state laws.

Never attempt to make your own fireworks or try to alter or combine them.

Never give fireworks to small children.

Store in a cool, dry place.

Carefully read and follow the label directions.

Alcohol and fireworks do not mix.

DURING

Use fireworks outdoors only, in an open area and on a hard, flat, level surface.

Light one at a time.

Keep a fire extinguisher, hose or bucket of water nearby.

Handle and discharge fireworks only under adult supervision.

Have a designated shooter, an adult who knows the hazards of each type of firework being used.

The shooter should always wear eye protection and never have any part of the body over the firework device.

Shoot fireworks when the prevailing wind is blowing away from spectators.

Never hold a lighted firework in your hand.

Never look into a firework tube to check if it’s lighted.

Spectators should keep a safe distance.

AFTER

Sparkler wires should immediately be placed in a bucket of water to avoid injury, as they remain hot for a few minutes after burning out.

Never re-light a dud firework — wait 20 minutes and then soak it.

Dispose of fireworks properly by soaking them in water and then disposing of them in the trash.
