Wellsville romps against Jackson-Milton, 105-54
NORTH JACKSON — Jeremy Carter and Jaimon Edison each scored 21 points Tuesday to power the Wellsville High boys basketball team to a 105-54 win over Jackson-Milton.
The Inter-Tri-County Tier Two-leading Tigers (16-1, 11-1) built a commanding 88-38 lead heading into the final eight minutes of action.
Nate Carman added 17, Jordan Field 13 and Zane Carter 11.
Ben Carlile led the Bluejays (0-18, 0-12) with 17 points. Bobby Schnellbach finished with 15.
Southern 51, Leetonia 42
LEETONIA — Although Tyler Baker had nine of his game-high 24 points in the first quarter to give Southern a decent lead, Leetonia came back to tie the game at 31-31 at the end of the third before slipping in the fourth.
After trailing 13-5, then tying at 31-31 after three quarters, Leetonia was unable to get Tom Orr the ball inside while Southern was busy converting layups.
The combination resulted in a 20-11 scoring advantage for the Indians (11-6, 6-6 ITCL Tier Two), who also got 13 points from Ethan Blatch.
Orr, a 6-5 junior, scored 14 of his 18 points in the third for the Bears, who made only 3 of 18 3-point attempts.
Orr also had 13 rebounds for Leetonia, a 51-50 loser at Southern earlier this season.
United 76, Springfield 51
HANOVERTON — The Golden Eagles (10-6, 8-4), ahead 30-20 at intermission, put the ITCLTier One game out of reach with a 30-13 surge in the third quarter.
Jimmy Phillis and Jeremy Walker sparked United with 27 and 21 points respectively. Jim Zubick and Joe Musial each scored nine points for Springfield (9-7, 6-6).
