Coyotes 4, Blue Jackets 2

COLUMBUS — Peter Mueller scored twice and the Phoenix Coyotes came back for three third-period goals to beat the Columbus Blue Jackets. The Coyotes won for the first time when trailing through two periods. They came in at 0-18-0 when trailing headed into the third period. Mueller’s 14th and 15th goals came in the city where he was picked No. 8 in the opening round of last summer’s NHL draft. He notched the go-ahead goal with 6:26 remaining, taking a long tape-to-tape pass from Shane Doan, who extended his points streak to a career-best 11 games. Doan was at his own blue line when he whipped a pass tothe far blue line to Mueller, who skated in and slid the puck between the legs of goaltender Pascal Leclaire. Mathias Tjarnqvist had an acrobatic, one-handed goal and Radim Vrbata added an empty netter and an assist for the Coyotes, who have won their last three games. Fredrik Modin and Jason Chimera scored for the Blue Jackets, who had their franchise-record six-game home winning streak come to an end.

Hurricanes 3, Rangers 1

RALEIGH, N.C. — Rod Brind’Amour and Sergei Samsonov scored in the second period, and Trevor Letowski added an insurance goal in the third for Carolina. Cam Ward made 34 saves for the Southeast Division-leading Hurricanes, who have won three of four. Brendan Shanahan scored for the Rangers. Goalie Henrik Lundqvist stopped 24 shots.

Flyers 3, Kings 2, OT

PHILADELPHIA — A sliding Scott Hartnell kicked in a goal with 28.5 seconds left in overtime to lift Philadelphia. Simon Gagne and Braydon Coburn also scored and Martin Biron had 29 saves for Atlantic Division-leading Philadelphia, which won for the ninth time in 11 games. Matt Moulson and Anze Kopitar had goals for the Kings, who haven’t won in Philadelphia since March 23, 2000. Biron kept the Flyers in it with a pad save on a point-blank shot by Jack Johnson in overtime. With the clock winding down, Mike Richards dumped the puck toward a streaking Hartnell, who slid toward the net and scored his 17th goal off his skate.

Senators 5, Islanders 2

UNIONDALE, N.Y. — Mike Fisher had a goal and assist for Ottawa Senators. Andrej Meszaros, Chris Phillips, Dean McAmmond and Jason Spezza also scored for the Senators, who won for just the third time in eight games. Martin Gerber turned aside 23 shots for his 23rd win this season. Trailing 3-0 in the third period, Sean Bergenheim and Bryan Berard scored for the Islanders, who are 1-3-1 in their last five games. All-Star goalie Rick DiPietro made 21 saves.

Sabres 4, Lightning 2

TAMPA, Fla. — Jason Pominville scored a goal and had two assists as the struggling Buffalo Sabres defeated Tampa Bay. The Sabres had lost 12 of 15 entering the game, but playing Tampa Bay has been good for Buffalo in recent years. The Sabres have won nine of their last 10 against the Lightning, including six straight in Tampa. The Sabres scored at 4:48 in the first period on a 2-on-1 breakaway by Pominville and Clarke MacArhur. MacArthur’s sixth goal came off Pominville’s 28th assist of the season. Pominville picked up his goal eight minutes later, sending a wrist shot to the upper right corner past goalie Johan Holmqvist. Buffalo extended its lead to 4-0 on goals from Drew Stafford and Derek Roy. Pominville picked up his second assist on Roy’s 19th goal.

Bruins 3, Predators 1

BOSTON — Glen Metropolit scored a pair of third-period goals and Tim Thomas stopped 37 shots for Boston. Marco Sturm also scored his team-leading 17th goal for the Bruins, who posted their fifth win in seven games. Rich Peverley scored for the Predators and J.P. Dumont collected an assist, extending the league’s longest current active point streak to 15 games.

Canadiens 4, Capitals 0

MONTREAL — Cristobal Huet stopped 35 shots in his second shutout of the season and Mark Streit had a goal and an assist to lead Montreal Canadiens to a 4-0 win. Sergei Kostitsyn, Saku Koivu and Alex Kovalev also scored for Montreal, which has won three straight and seven of nine. Huet’s shutout was the 15th of his career.

Blues 3, Maple Leafs 2

TORONTO — Keith Tkachuk scored on his team’s first two shots and the St. Louis Blues ended a seven-game winless streak. David Backes had a goal and an assist for the Blues, who had gone 0-5-2 before the All-Star break but improved to 5-1-1 against Eastern Conference teams this season. Toronto native Manny Legace, with family and friends in the crowd, played well for St. Louis despite spending 11 hours in the Atlanta airport Monday trying to leave the All-Star festivities. He also didn’t take part in Tuesday morning’s pregame skate because his equipment had not yet showed up. He started anyway and stopped 23 shots. Matt Stajan and Jason Blake had the goals for the Maple Leafs and linemate Darcy Tucker had two assists.
