Newton Falls cruises past Brookfield 58-27

NEWTON FALLS — Cameron McCleary led a balanced attack Tuesday as the Newton Falls High basketball team cruised past Brookfield, 58-27.

McCleary’s 12 points helped the Tigers remain unbeaten in Trumbull Athletic Conference play.

Alsoscoring for the Tigers (12-3, 9-0) were Nik Kaley with nine and Ian Webb and Todd Medallis with seven apiece.

For the Warriors (2-13, 0-9), Ryan Shugarts scored 10 points.

Mathews 57, Badger 54

VIENNA — The Mustangs (7-8, 4-5) jumped out to a 22-12 lead in the first quarter and the Braves (4-10, 3-6) couldn’t catch up in the Northeastern Athletic Conference contest.

Sophomors Rick Sommers and Collin Bowser sparked the Mustangs with 17 and 15 points respectively. Greg Hunkus and Less Armstrong led the Braves with 14 and 12 points.
