Farrell rolls past Mercer behind Stubbs, Holden


FARRELL, Pa. — Trathael Stubbs and Marsell Holden shared 47 points Tuesday in leading the Farrell High basketball team to a 89-56 victory over Mercer.

The Steelers, unbeaten in District 10 Class AA with a 10-0 record improved to 17-3 overall. They built a 43-23 lead by intermission and then put the contest out of reach with a 31-17 surge in the fourth quarter.

Stubbs paced the Steelers’ balanced scoring attack with 24 points. Holden added 23, while Myles Ranson chipped in with 15 and Colin Chapman had 10.

Wes Schaa led the Mustangs with 15 points. Dustin Snyder and Joel Pyle each had 12 and Adam Braymaker 10.

Kennedy Catholic 63, West Middlesex 58

HERMITAGE — Kyle Randall and Chase McKinney had 26 and 23 points, respectively, as the Golden Eagles won their District 10, Section 1, Class A game.

Randall’s outupt added to his season point total, which stands at 1,046. The junior eclipsed 1,000 on Jan. 22 against Commodore Perry.

McKinney, a senior, also had nine rebounds, while Randall grabbed seven more of Kennedy’s 37 caroms.

Kyle Allen had 16 points and Troy Mild tacked on 14 for West Middlesex, which collected 34 rebounds.

Kennedy previously won at West Middlesex on Jan. 4, 83-77.
