Thunder launch 2nd season today with Ursuline's Swogger playing


— The Mahoning Valley Thunder launch their second season in March, and festivities today help get things started.

The Thunder's release is below. The festivities start today with an event at 3 p.m. at the Chevy Centre.

BOARDMAN, Ohio- You are invited! The Mahoning Valley Thunder would like to invite you to the Chevrolet Centre, Tuesday January 29th at 3pm to announce a historical signing in the history of the Thunder. A prominent high school sports star from the Youngstown area becomes the first local player assigned to the 2008 Thunder roster.

Mahoning Valley is inviting Thunder fans as well as members of the media to attend this special announcement. Be the first to know which former high school state champion has been added to the 2008 Thunder roster. Head Coach Mike Hold and the newest Thunder member will be on hand to answer questions and sign autographs.

“We’re excited about what this means to the community. This is arguably the biggest signing we’ve made in our two seasons. We love the experience and intangibles he brings to Thunder, and we’re thrilled to bring him back to the Mahoning Valley.” Said Thunder Head Coach Mike Hold

The Mahoning Valley Thunder opens the season at home Saturday March 29th on Cortland Banks Field inside the Chevrolet Centre. Be a part of all the action in 2008 as the Thunder continues their climb towards the ArenaCup9 Championship.
