Students compete in debate tournament

CANFIELD — Canfield High School was the setting Jan. 5 for a speech and debate tournament sponsored by Western Mahoning County Kiwanis and organized by Jeremy Hamilton, coach/director of Canfield Speech and Debate Team.

Competing in the event were 505 high school students from Austintown, Boardman, Canfield, Cardinal Mooney, Champion, Columbiana, Howland, Jackson-Milton, Liberty, Lisbon, Niles, Poland, Springfield, Warren John F. Kennedy and Youngstown Christian schools.

Winning schools represented by the students were Austintown, first; Howland, second; and Canfield, third.
