Boardman man arrested in family assault

BOARDMAN — A Clifton Drive man was arrested over the weekend, accused of chasing his sisters with a hammer and fighting with police.

Adam Haren, 27, is charged with two counts of domestic violence, three counts of assault on a police officer and one count each of resisting arrest and obstructing official business. He was in the Mahoning County Jail.

Police were called about 11 p.m. Saturday to Haren’s Clifton Drive home by his father. Members of the Haren family told police that Haren began choking his 18-year-old sister and then choked and kicked his other sister, 15, when she tried to intervene.

The sisters ran outside, according to what the family members told police, and Haren followed them with a hammer.

When police arrived, Haren became combative with officers, swinging his arms when they tried to handcuff him. He continued to struggle and kick at police when they tried to put him inºto a cruiser, a police report said.

He is scheduled to appear in court today.
