Kent State comes from behind to beat Western Michigan, 67-58

KENT — Rodriquez Sherman scored 10 of his 12 points during a decisive 19-2 second half run as Kent State came from behind Sunday to beat Western Michigan, 67-58.
Kent State (16-4, 5-1 Mid-American) trailed for much of the game and was behind 48-38 with 12:54 to play when Sherman sank two free throws. He followed that with two straight layups to bring the Golden Flashes to within four.
Joe Reitz scored for Western Michigan (10-9, 4-2), but then Kent State’s Rashad Woods made a jumper, Al Fisher scored on a layup and then Sherman made two more free throws and another layup to put the Golden Flashes ahead for good.
More free throw shooting by Kent State extended the lead. The Chippewas got as close as three with 44 seconds remaining, but couldn’t score again.
David Kool scored 21 points, Shawntes Gary had 14 and Reitz had 13 for Western Michigan.
Fisher scored 17 and Mike Scott had 13 for Kent State.
Bowling Green 63, N. Illinois 59
BOWLING GREEN — Joe Jakubowski’s layup put Bowling Green ahead with 1:15 remaining, and a steal and a dunk by Nate Miller in the game’s closing seconds ensured the win.
Miller scored 17 points, Jakubowski had 14, Chris Knight 12 and Brian Moten 10 for Bowling Green (9-9, 4-2 MAC).
Darion Anderson scored 18 points and Egan Grafel had 11 for Northern Illinois (5-13, 2-4).
