Memories of Westinghouse Electric

WESTINGHOUSE

Memories

From 1922 to 1985, Westinghouse Electric manufactured electrical transformers at its plant on Sharpsville Avenue in Sharon.

The plant has gone through various owners over the years and was subject to a cleanup order by the Environmental Protection Agency.

Sharon Coating LLC, formerly a division of Winner International, is located in a portion of the building, and workers discovered hundreds of old photographs, slides and movies.

The items were donated to the Mercer County Historical Society on Jan. 9 and 10.

The historical society is looking for volunteers to catalog the materials and any additional donations of pictures or other items from the facility. Call (724) 662-3490 to help.
