Struthers downs Poland for 10th win
POLAND — Halle Minchin-Skook scored 17 points to lead Struthers over Poland, 67-52, Saturday, the Wildcats’ 10th win of the season.
Ashley Galbraith and Dana Mathews each scored 16 points for Struthers (10-4, 5-4 Metro Athletic Conference).
For Poland (4-12, 3-7), Michelle Benson scored a season-high 21 points and Missy Haug added 13.
Salem 56, Niles 32
NILES — It was a MAC game that produced 16 3-point baskets — nine by Salem and seven by Niles.
Both teams made only one free throw; Salem was 1-for-2 and Niles was 1-of-4.
The Quakers used first (12-5) and third quarters (22-6) to build a commanding 51-22 lead.
Kelly Roelen, who connected on a school record seven 3-point baskets, led the Quakers (10-6, 7-3) with 25 points. Amy Scullion and Katie Scullion added 12 and 11, respectively.
Nina Gabrelcik, who made four 3-point baskets, led the Red Dragons (6-10, 2-9) with 13 points.
Canfield 68, Campbell 35
CAMPBELL — The Cardinals kept their Metro Athletic Conference winning streak alive (9-0) and they are 15-1 overall.
Kate Popovec scored 20 points and pulled down 10 rebounds for the Cardinals. Jillian Halfhill added 16 points. Canfield had a 58-24 rebounding advantage.
Danielle Bell paced the Red Devils (2-13, 0-10) with 15 points.
Popovec, a senior four-year starter, goes after a career 1,000 rebounds, when the Cardinals travel to Salem Monday.
Chaney 66, Cle. St. Martins 26
YOUNGSTOWN — Tiara Heard’s 15 points led the Cowgirls to the their sixth win. Keyera Clark scored 10 points while Mimi North and Whitli Sanders had nine each.
Clenisha Pless pulled down 14 of Chaney’s 56 rebounds.
Youngstown Christian 44,
Southern 22
YOUNGSTOWN — Sara Bell and Rashida Strozier each scored 10 points to lead Youngstown Christian (4-13), which built a 24-10 halftime lead and carried a 38-12 advantage into the final quarter.
Kristi Cooper had seven points, six rebounds and four steals.
Hannah Kelm had eight points for Southern (1-15).
Southeast 55, Norton 46
RAVENNA — The Pirates had to go into overtime to remain unbeaten (16-0). Nikki Murphy sparked Southeast with 14 points and Mya Levels added 11. Jenna Edwards led Norton with 13 points.
