Pig Iron Press announces writing workshops

YOUNGSTOWN — Pig Iron Press and Art Works has announced its schedule for the monthly Work in Progress creative writing workshops for 2008.

The workshops will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at Pig Iron Press, 26 N. Phelps St., downtown, on Feb. 27, March 26, April 23, May 28, June 25, July 23, Aug. 27, Sept. 24, Oct. 22, Nov. 26 and Dec. 17. Reservations are not required. Admission is $3 per session, or $25 per year.

The participants at the workshops examine one another’s work, which can include various genres, including articles, fiction, poetry and criticism.

Writers read from their present work and from prompts issued by the facilitator. Dialogue and exchange between the writers is encouraged in open discussion.

The meetings are facilitated by Jim Villani, editor of Pig Iron Press. Enrollment is open to all, regardless of experience level.
