Mr. and Mrs. Burks cruise to Bahamas to celebrate 50th

X YOUNGSTOWN — Robert and Jacqueline Burks, 5809-A Herons Blvd., celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by renewing their vows at sea on a family cruise.

The trip to the Bahamas was hosted by all the couple’s family, R. Scott Burks of Cincinnati; Rebecca and Tom Trgovac of Chambersburg, Pa.; Eric and Jody Burks of Safety Harbor, Fla.; Brian Burks and Monica Humbert of Cincinnati; and Beverly Burks and Dan Varga of Columbus. The couple also have six grandchildren.

Mr. Burks married the former Jacqueline Pettit on Feb. 14, 1958, at Central Christian Church.

The couple both retired in July 1997, she as a caseworker for the Mahoning County Department of Human Services and he as a regional manager for Anthem/Blue Cross. Mr. Burks, a Korean War veteran, served in the U.S. Navy from 1953-1957.
