MISSING SOLDIERS | Annual vigil

Mercer County veterans are holding their annual vigil to bring to the forefront the plight of soldiers missing from all wars. This is the 24th year for the vigil held at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial on the east side of the county courthouse. A service will be held at 7 tonight.

Among those remembered will be one Mercer County soldier missing since Oct. 22, 1971, in Vietnam. Edwin Maurice Garrett Jr. of West Middlesex, Pa., was on his second tour of duty when his helicopter went down.

There are 95 soldiers from Pennsylvania still missing, according to the Mercer County Veterans Affairs office.
