Registration

Schools are beginning to register children for kindergarten for the 2008-09 school year. In most cases, children must be age 5 by Sept. 30 and have proof of proper immunizations, their birth certificate, a Social Security number and proof of residency at the time of registration. Proof of legal custody may also be required. Any additional requirements are listed with each school.

Maplewood: Registration will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Feb. 11-13 and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Feb. 14 at Maplewood Elementary, 1699 Kinsman Road N.E., North Bloomfield. Two proofs of residency are required in addition to the above-mentioned items.

Villa Maria Theresa School, owned and operated by the Oblate Sisters of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, 50 Warner Road, Hubbard, Ohio, will begin accepting kindergarten registration Monday for the 2008-09 school year. You will need to bring a copy of the child’s birth certificate, immunization records, Social Security card, and Baptismal record if applicable.

The school is licensed by the State of Ohio and provides a full-day program with snacks and hot lunch provided daily. The school is an Ed.Choice Scholarship participant with busing available within the Liberty school district. The school also offers a before and after-school care program for working parents. Mathews: Registration will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the weeks of Feb. 4 and March 3 at Currie Elementary School, 3306 Ridge Road, Cortland. There will be one evening session from 4 to 8 p.m. Feb. 7.

Wilmington Area: Parents or guardians wishing to enroll their child at Pulaski, East Lawrence or New Wilmington elementary schools should call the elementary school office at (724) 656-8866, ext. 3000, immediately. A screening clinic will be held at New Wilmington Elementary April 23 and 24. A packet containing all necessary registration forms will be mailed to registrants during the last week of March. Children must be 5 years old before Sept. 1 to enroll.
