Big fourth quarter boosts Columbiana girls


COLUMBIANA — The Columbiana High girls basketball team, leading by a point after three quarters, outscored Crestview 16-8 in the final eight minutes to post a 45-36 victory over the Rebels Friday in a Inter Tri-County Tier One game in the Clippers’ gymnasium.

Katie Douglas scored 15 points to spark the Clippers. Katie Witmer added 10. Douglas pulled down eight rebounds. Chelsea Bowker scored a game-high 28 points for the Rebels (11-6, 6-5) and she grabbed 11 rebounds and had five steals.

Lordstown 48, Heartland Christian 20

COLUMBIANA — Brianna Blodgett collected 17 points and 10 rebounds while Lindsey Harrison added 14 points and Karly Gibbs 10 with eight steals and four assists, as Lordstown beat Heartland Christian.

The Red Devils (9-7) unleashed a strong defense that delivered 20 steals and helped to limit Heartland Christian to 6-for-29 shooting from the floor.

Samantha Lehman had six points to lead Heartland Christian (11-4).
