Widow sues truck driver and his employer

YOUNGSTOWN — The widow of a motorcyclist killed in a collision with a truck has sued the truck driver and his employer, Rent A Center Inc. on Market Street.

Lisa B. Kaufman of Hitchcock Road, Boardman, filed the suit Thursday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court on behalf of the estate of her husband, Bradley D. Kaufman, against Arlie G. Dorman Jr., of Sexton Street, Struthers, and his employer in connection with the Nov. 25, 2006, accident.

The suit said Kaufman, 47, was westbound behind the truck on McGuffey Road, when the truck driver negligently made a U-turn at Randall Avenue to go eastbound on McGuffey Road, striking the motorcycle and throwing Kaufman from it.

The suit, which seeks more than $25,000 in damages, is assigned to Judge James C. Evans.

Officials at the Market Street store referred a reporter’s inquiry about the lawsuit to Rent A Center’s headquarters in Plano, Texas, where officials could not be reached for comment.
