Vienna woman sues over injury outside store

WARREN — A Vienna woman has filed a lawsuit over injuries she said she received when her purse was snatched outside Super Kmart in Howland.

Robin S. Tenney of Outer Drive filed the suit Thursday in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court, naming as defendants: Howland Commons Partnership and Warner Management, both of Belmont Avenue, Youngstown; Super Kmart; and the two people charged in the crime, Jamie L. Rounds of Niles and Nicholas P. Kovell, 26, of Warren.

The suit says Tenney was leaving the Niles-Cortland Road store April 10, 2007, when her purse was grabbed and she fell, injuring her leg and suffering permanent injuries.

Rounds has pleaded guilty to theft in common pleas court and awaits sentencing. A charge of receiving stolen property against Kovell is pending.

The suit seeks compensatory damages against Rounds, Kovell, Super Kmart and the shopping center management of $25,000 and punitive damages of $500,000.

Kim Freely, spokesperson for Kmart’s corporate headquarters, said the company does not comment on pending litigation.
