Pet store robbed

BOARDMAN — An employee of a Market Street pet store told police he was robbed at gunpoint of the store’s night deposit. The employee of Petland told police that he went to National City Bank, Market Street, about 10 p.m. Wednesday when a man got out of an older white car, pointed a gun at him and demanded money. The employee handed the robber the deposit bag, containing about $300, and the gunman demanded the employee’s wallet, cash and cell phone. The employee turned over $35 and said he didn’t have anything else and the robber told him to leave, getting back into his car. The suspect drove south through the parking lot and to the light at Stadium Drive. An off-duty Mill Creek Park officer spotted the car running and unoccupied in the lot of Stadium Drive business. The car had been reported stolen in Struthers.
