Consiglio gets another endorsement for Trumbull Co. sheriff

JOHNSTON — The Trumbull Township Association has endorsed Joseph Consiglio for county sheriff over 16-year incumbent Thomas Altiere by a nearly 2-to-1 margin.

The association represents township trustees and fiscal officers. About half of the group’s 96 township members participated in the vote Thursday.

Consiglio, Weathersfield Township police chief, received 29 votes over Altiere’s 16. This is the second major endorsement in a week for Consiglio, who won the favor of the Trumbull County Democrat Party.

Randy Smith, a Hartford Township trustees and chief deputy county engineer, received 43 votes over David DeChristofaro of Niles for county engineer. DeChristofaro received two votes.

In the coroner’s race, Dr. Humphrey Germaniuk, forensic pathologist at the coroner’s office, was unanimously endorsed over Dr. Gary Kraker.
