Chaney girl arrested after conflict with officer

YOUNGSTOWN — A 15-year-old Chaney High School student was arrested following a confrontation with a police officer Wednesday.

The ninth-grade girl reportedly swung at the officer and shouted threats and profanity at her classmates following dismissal at 3:15 p.m. The episode began when the girl refused to hang up her cellular phone, in violation of school rules, according to police reports.

The girl was charged with disorderly conduct. Police are recommending charges of inducing panic and resisting arrest be added to her record. The girl reportedly shouted, “I will blow this ... school up,” as she was being taken into custody. She was released to her mother pending an appearance in juvenile court.
