Jan. 17

Theft: Police arrested a 34-year-old Girard woman on a felony theft charge after an employee with Federal Cash Advance, 5200 Market St., discovered an undisclosed amount of money missing. The co-worker admitted taking the cash, the report said.

Menacing: As they responded to a possible fight at a South Schenley Avenue residence, officers arrested a boy, 16, and an 18-year-old man, both of Youngstown, on menacing charges. A man and his girlfriend said the two had threatened them with bodily harm.

Arrest: A traffic stop on U.S. Route 224 resulted in the arrest of a 32-year-old Struthers man on a felony warrant from Erie County, Ohio, charging him with tampering with evidence.

Theft: A Youngstown boy, 17, was charged after being accused of taking a $3 pair of dice from Spencer Gifts in the Southern Park Mall.

Theft: A man told police his 14-year-old son’s jacket, MP3 player and cell phone were stolen while the teen was at a McClurg Road business.

Deception: An employee with Walgreens Pharmacy, 525 E. Midlothian Blvd., reported someone in the drive-through presented a phony prescription for OxyContin.

Theft/arson: A Glenwood Avenue boy reported that a trash can had been burned at his residence and that a $20 sign was removed from his front yard.

Domestic violence: Youngstown police handed to Boardman authorities a 20-year-old Youngstown man wanted on a charge of domestic violence (threats). In December, a Youngstown woman at a Market Street business reported the man threatened over the phone to kill her.

Misuse of a credit card: A Windsor Road woman discovered a $284 fraudulent charge on her debit account.

Theft: A Clearwater, Fla., man reported the theft of a leather jacket, a laptop computer and two bottles of wine from his car while at a Boardman-Canfield Road restaurant.

Identity theft: After getting a bill claiming she owes $80, an Arlene Avenue woman found out someone had fraudulently opened a phone account in her name.

Forgery: An employee with a DeBartolo Place business accused a co-worker of forging and cashing checks since 2006, including one earlier this month.

Counterfeit: Authorities took into custody a 59-year-old New Castle, Pa., man on a felony count of criminal simulation after a worker for Checksmart, 112 Boardman-Poland Road, alleged the man tried to cash three phony money orders totaling $2,560.

Burglary: A woman returned to her Glenwood Avenue apartment and discovered a break-in. Roughly $1,060 worth of jewelry was missing.

Vandalism: A screen door sustained $200 of damage at a home in the 7400 block of Sierra Madre Drive.

Assault: A 17-year-old Boardman boy surrendered to police and was charged with the crime.

Arrests: Officers served a warrant from Austintown to a 20-year-old Boardman man staying at a Market Street motel and took him into custody on an assault charge; also arrested was a Boardman woman, 23, wanted on a charge of failure to appear in court on a count of probation violation.

Jan. 19

Theft: An employee with Lone Star Steakhouse & Saloon, 1738 Boardman-Poland Road, noticed $200 worth of tips and bills stolen from a wallet.

Theft: A Liberty woman, 36, faced charges of theft and receiving stolen property after $246 worth of clothing was taken from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall. She also was in possession of three pairs of men’s pants that had been stolen from the J.C. Penney store, also in the mall, police said.

Theft: Two Struthers girls, 15 and 16, and an 18-year-old Campbell woman were charged after 10 articles of clothing and two T-shirts were taken from Sears in the Southern Park Mall. The woman also was charged with receiving stolen property.

Theft: Police charged a 53-year-old Boardman man with stealing $20.51 worth of groceries from Giant Eagle, 1201 Doral Drive.

Domestic violence: A 15-year-old Erie Street girl was arrested at her residence and charged after the teen’s legal guardian alleged the girl punched and kicked him.

Theft: A woman reported the theft of two shirts while at a Mathews Road business.

Burglary: Someone forced open the front door to a Devonshire Drive residence and removed two laptop computers and related software, a cell phone, a wedding band and other jewelry. The loss came to more than $5,000.

Jan. 20

Drug paraphernalia: While investigating a disabled vehicle near Shields Road, authorities charged a Youngstown woman, 29, with possession of drug paraphernalia after a suspected crack pipe was found.

Criminal damaging: A door and its lock were damaged at a South Avenue motel.

Criminal mischief: Police on patrol noticed a window to a Jeep broken at a Boardman-Canfield Road car dealership. They also discovered holes, possibly from a BB or pellet gun, in the vehicle.

Criminal damaging: Someone dumped rock salt at the base of three trees at a residence in the 100 block of Overhill Road, causing $600 worth of damage.

Theft: A Glenwood Avenue man reported the theft of his car key.

Theft: A 70-year-old Youngstown woman faced a charge after being accused of taking six pieces of merchandise from Kmart, 1209 Boardman-Poland Road.

Theft: Police charged a Youngstown woman, 41, after $36 worth of steaks were stolen from Giant Eagle, 1201 Doral Drive. The woman also was wanted on warrants charging her with probation violation, theft and menacing.

Stolen property: Authorities responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle on Brookfield Avenue and learned its license plates had been stolen. Charged with receiving stolen property was the car’s owner, a 20-year-old Niles man.

Drugs: After pulling her over on South Avenue, officers cited a 25-year-old Boardman woman on a charge of drug possession after saying she admitted giving a bag of suspected marijuana to a family member.

Jan. 21

Theft: A 34-year-old Youngstown man was charged. Police accused him of stealing 16 grocery items valued at a total of $122.69 from Giant Eagle, 1201 Doral Drive.

Burglary: A Huntington Drive woman reported a break-in and the theft of her cable box.

Truck theft: A Shadyside Drive man reported his 2005 Ford F-150 truck stolen.
