Power outage darkens 1,460 Trumbull customers

WARREN — An Ohio Edison capacitor bank in the vicinity of Wal-Mart and Wendy’s Restaurant on Elm Road N.E. failed Wednesday night, knocking out power to 1,460 customers for about 20 minutes.

The cause of the malfunction is not known, said LuAnn Koch, Trumbull County area manager for the power company.

The outage occurred at 8:03 p.m. and power was rerouted and restored to the 1,460 customers in Warren, Bazetta Township and Cortland by 8:23 p.m., Koch said. She said some customers may have noticed their light flicker when the power was rerouted.

It is not known how long it will take to repair the capacitor bank.

The Trumbull County 911 office said no traffic crashes were reported during the outage, which also put out traffic control lights.
