Canfield hockey team earns a tie, loses twice


GATES MILLS — The Canfield High hockey team went 0-2-1 over the weekend at the Chagrin Falls Invitational tournament at Gilmour Academy.  

The Cardinals lost to Chagrin Falls (7-1), tied North Royalton (2-2) and lost to Painesville Riverside (7-1).  

Nick Manos scored two goals while Tyler Buchenic and Gary Tomko had one each.

Buchenic and Tomko added two assists while Mike Haurin, Chris Schade and Nick Carney each picked up one.  

Goaltender Brian Moore stopped 84 out of 97 shots for the weekend and John Neher saved 16 out of 19 shots.  

The Cardinals (4-13-3) take on Twinsburg on Friday at 5:30 p.m. at the Ice Zone in Boardman.
