“The Amazing Race 12” (8 p.m., CBS): On the season finale of “The Amazing Race 12,” the remaining three teams set off on the final leg of the competition. As one team, which typically works well together, experiences their first major clash, another misreads a vital clue that threatens its position.

“High School Musical: The Music In You” (8 p.m., Disney Channel): You don’t have to be a kid to know about the incredible success of Disney’s “High School Musical.” But did you know the phenomenon has spread to drama departments all over the nation? “High School Musical: The Music in You” is a new documentary by Oscar-winner Barbara Kopple that chronicles one such youth production in Fort Worth, Texas.

“Dangerous Encounters With Brady Barr: Undercover Hippo” (9 p.m., National Geographic Channel): The man who was bitten by a poisonous snake during an adventure last year is now after the hippo.

“Breaking Bad” (10 p.m., AMC): It’s like “Weeds,” only darker and edgier. In this new suburban drug drama, Bryan Cranston (”Malcolm In the Middle”) plays a high school chemistry teacher who is going through a mid-life crisis of epic proportions. He just turned 50, and he just discovered he has terminal lung cancer. Desperate to provide his family with some financial security after he’s gone, he teams up with a sleazy former student (Aaron Paul) to start a high-risk criminal venture: producing and selling crystal meth. Cranston makes a great first impression in the role and the pilot episode, written and directed by Vince Gilligan (“The X-Files”), is packed with clever writing and surprising twists. This one could prove to be addictive.
