The Vindicator’s Religion page will run a listing of area services that are open to the public in observance of Ash Wednesday, Feb. 6. Other information on Lenten programs also should be submitted. The deadline to submit information is 5 p.m. Jan. 30. The list will be published Feb. 2.

Family Fun Day

LIBERTY —Unity Church Centre, 1226 Naylor Lloyd Road, will hold its third annual Family Fun Day starting at noon Jan. 26. The event will feature lectures, movies and activities centered on spiritual, health and self-awareness issues. The first movie will be at 12:30 p.m. and explores the teachings of Abraham as interpreted by Ester and Jerry Hicks. The second movie at 3 follows two children on a journey, and the third movie at 6 will present possibilities of the year 2012 and the Mayan calendar.

Mass for MLK Day

YOUNGSTOWN — Bishop George V. Murry of the Diocese of Youngstown will celebrate a special Mass at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Columba Cathedral, 154 W. Wood St., on the occasion of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Women Uplifted event

AUSTINTOWN — Women Uplifted will sponsor the fourth annual Catholic women’s conference, “What’s Holding You Back ... From Hearing God’s Call,” on Feb. 9 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church parish center, 4500 Norquest Blvd. Inspirational speakers will be Diane Hanchrenko, Kim Molek and Linda Smrek and the music ministry, Living Praise. he cost, which includes continental breakfast and lunch, is $25. Worship band

NILES — The Bridge, a contemporary praise and worship band, will lead worship at 10 a.m. Sunday at Southside Presbyterian Church, 102 W. Second St.

Seasonal program

VILLA MARIA, Pa. — Villa Maria Education and Spirituality Center will introduce the second in a series of courses entitled, “Spirit of the Seasons: Winter,” from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 26. Sister Carolyn Gorny-Kopkowski, director of spirituality programs for the Benedictine Sisters of Erie, will be the presenter. There will be prayer, meditation, discussion, creative leisure, movement, ritual and celebration. The cost is $40 and includes lunch. Registration is required. King’s Kids Club

LIBERTY — The King’s Kids Club at Church Hill United Methodist Church, 189 Church Hill-Hubbard Road, will resume meeting next week. The first session will be from 4:45 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. The free program, open to community children from preschool to seventh grade, features music, Bible class, dinner, crafts and games. Families are invited to join their children for dinner. Testimony night

CANFIELD — Adele Sanko, president of Flame Fellowship, will speak at 7 p.m. Jan. 28 at Lifecare Ministry Center, 5357 S. Raccoon Road. She is involved in prison ministry and Shield of Faith.

Ordination planned

YOUNGSTOWN — Bridging of the Spirit Christian Center, 3024 Myron Ave., will hold an ordination service for minister Fle’cia Y. Cotton at 11 a.m. Sunday. Cotton, who is arried to Trustee James Cotton Sr., was licensed in 2006. She and her husband have two children. The Rev. Calvin Penny is pastor.

Youth Explosion

WARREN — “Youth Explosion 2008, I Will Survive” is planned at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 27 at St. James Church of God in Christ, 1838 Main St., by Pastor Melvin Howard Sr. and the church youth department. The event will feature Alton Merrell Jr. and Redeemed Praise Team of Detroit, Curtis Lewis Jr. of Pittsburgh, Mark Jackson and choirs, mimes and flag teams.

Guest speaker

YOUNGSTOWN — Dr. Helen Green of Lighthouse Ministries, Palmdale, Calif., will be guest speaker during worship Sunday at Power of Praise Worship Center Church, 815 Wilson Ave. Fellowship will begin at 11:45 a.m. Stephanie Ashamore-Jenkins is pastor.

Music Connection

GIRARD — His Music Connection, formerly the Word and Music Ministry, has started a new year. His Music Connection is a coffee house/concert series that provides free music and refreshments.

A concert is planned from 6 to 10 p.m. Jan. 26 at the coffee house, the old Wellman theater, 29 W. Liberty St. Performers will be Rick Thompson of Windham and Kim Wetzl of The Gate.
