Naples scholarship deadline is March 31

HUBBARD — March 31 is the deadline for high school seniors and college students from Trumbull, Mahoning and Stark counties to apply for the annual Richard T. Naples Sr. Education Foundation Inc. scholarship.

Naples, founder of the Wholesale Fireworks chain, created the foundation 10 years ago, setting up a perpetual fund that has awarded more than 180 scholarships of $500 each and 25 scholarships of $800 each.

High school students from the three counties can obtain an application from their guidance counselors. Further information is available by contacting Naples at (330) 534-5145 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The program was created to help young adults defray a portion of the costs of a higher education, which includes not only colleges and universities but also institutes for fine and performing arts and trade and vocational schools.
