WARREN — L. J. Sutton scored 15 points, Tim Marlowe added 13 points and seven rebounds and the Cardinal Mooney High boys basketball team outscored Warren JFK 17-8 in the third quarter to take control en route to a 52-44 Steel Valley Conference victory on Friday.
Ronnie Martino added 14 points for the Cardinals (6-6, 2-0), who made just 7 of 23 free throws.
Nick Brown scored 20 points to lead JFK (5-9, 0-1).
Ursuline 68, Chaney 45
YOUNGSTOWN — Dominique Cole scored 21 points and Nick McCartney added 19 for the Irish, who outscored Chaney 27-12 in the fourth quarter of the SVC game.
Jamel Turner added 17 points for the Irish (9-4, 1-1).
James Burns and Tyray Helms each scored nine points for the Cowboys (3-10, 0-1).
Lake 53, Boardman 38
UNIONTOWN — Devron Martin scored 15 points and Eric Soller added five points and nine rebounds for Boardman (6-8, 1-5 Federal), which was outscored 17-6 in the fourth quarter.
J.T. Moore added six points and six rebounds for the Spartans, who committed 23 turnovers.
Allen Meffan scored 17 points to lead Lake (8-5, 3-3).
Massillon Jackson 79, Fitch 56
MASSILLON — Jon Ballard had 11 points, while Jon Stockman and John Williams each added 10 for the Falcons (1-11, 0-6 Federal). Fitch got off a slow start, trailing 14-4 after one quarter.
Jordan Lindesmith had 21 points to lead three Polar Bears (7-6, 3-3) in double figures.
Campbell 67, Struthers 63
CAMPBELL — Jerah’me Williams and Antwan Dawson each scored 20 points for the Red Devils (10-2, 5-2 Metro Athletic Conference).
Nate Hodge scored 10 as Campbell overcame a 27-23 halftime deficit.
For the Wildcats (5-8, 1-6), four players scored in double figures: Matt Durkin with 14, R.J. Ragan with 13, Jordan Morell with 13 and Keith Karas with 11.
Salem 58, East Liverpool 44
EAST LIVERPOOL — The Quakers (7-6, 2-5 MAC) built a 43-30 leading heading into the final eight minutes.
Austen Hutton and Jordan Strabala paced the Quakers with 14 points. apiece.
Strabala grabbed four rebounds and he had three assists. Hutton had five steals.
Sam Kinsey led the Potters (4-9, 1-6) with 14 points. Kaleb Stroud added 10 and grabbed six rebounds.
Howland 55, Niles 47
HOWLAND — The Tigers (9-4, 4-3 MAC) built a 24-16 lead by intermission and the Red Dragons (5-8, 2-5) weren’t able to make up the difference.
Kyle Spence sparked the Tigers with 19 points. Jared Kirin chipped in with 16 and Drew Guido finished with 11.
Ryan Frantz scored a game-high 24 points for the Red Dragons.
