Columbiana holds off South Range


COLUMBIANA — The first-place Columbiana High basketball team received a scare from Inter Tri-County League rival South Range on Friday.

The Clippers led 32-21 at halftime before posting a 58-51 win.

Columbiana (13-1, 10-0) started to pull away in the third quarter with a 19-14 spurt.

Josh Weikart scored 18 points to pace the Clippers. Ryan Williams added 14. J.R. Mihlan led the Raiders (4-11, 2-8) with 20 points. Travis Wisler finished with 16.

Leetonia 61, Lowellville 49

LEETONIA — Jake McNally had 23 points and 10 rebounds to lead Leetonia, which took a 14-6 lead in the first quarter.

Tom Orr added 13 points and 12 rebounds for the Bears (6-9, 4-6 ITCL Tier Two). Josh Selway had 11 points, three assists and three steals. Mauro Amendola had 12 points for the Rockets (3-10, 3-7) while Jim Sudon and Anthony Schiraldi each had 10.

BERLIN CENTER — Justin Lude scored 17 points and Shane Ewing added 15 to lead Reserve, which took a 56-26 lead after three quarters.

Jay Lude had 11 points and Nate Lude added eight points, eight rebounds and four assists as the Blue Devils (7-7, 5-5 ITLC Tier Two) earned the traveling trophy for the teams’ rivalry game.

Ben Carlile scored 11 points and Tim Ensign had 10 for the Bluejays (0-15, 0-10).

Crestview 59, Mineral Ridge 51

MINERAL RIDGE — Jakob Leon scored 24 points to lead the Rebels who enjoyed a big fourth quarter,

The Rebels led just 38-37 after three quarters then put together a 21-point spurt in the final eight minutes.

Nick Miele scored 16 points for the Rams.
