Blast hurts firefighters, gas worker

LIMA, Ohio (AP) — An explosion at a construction company in Lima Friday has left two firefighters with minor injuries.

Authorities had evacuated the building to check for a gas leak just before the explosion leveled the front half of the building.

The explosion sent flames 25 feet in the air, and thick black smoke poured out of the Tuttle Construction building.

Authorities say an employee with Dominion East Ohio gas company also is being treated for minor injuries.

Authorities evacuated Lima Central Catholic high school and moved the students to another school.

A supermarket and other businesses also have been closed.
