GIRARD
Jan. 12
Burglary: An Ella Street man saw that someone had entered his home via a basement window and rummaged through some of his property.
Criminal trespassing: Officers arrested a 48-year-old Youngstown man on a criminal-trespassing charge after a worker for Girard Recycling, 428 Hartzell St., said he saw someone pull scrap from recycling bins on the property. Sinks and other scrap were piled near a bin, police said.
Jan. 13
Assault: An Olive Street man alleged an Austintown man, 26 to 30, punched him in the face and tossed the accuser to the ground. The victim had minor cuts and bruises.
Auto theft: A West Liberty Street woman awoke to find her 1994 Ford missing.
Drugs: As police responded to a disturbance, a Girard woman, 36, was taken into custody at her East Kline Street residence and charged with possession of drug-abuse instruments. Two suspected crack pipes, including one in a cigarette pack, were found, authorities said.

Assault: A North St. Clair Avenue boy reported having been kicked and beaten up in an alley near East Second Street. He had cuts and bruises.
Menacing: A woman told police a Youngstown man, 50, struck her vehicle’s door and threatened to kill her as she left a doctor’s appointment on West Liberty Street.

Jan. 11
Possible auto theft: A Logan Way woman accused her boyfriend, of Masury, of taking and refusing to return her 1993 Pontiac.
Criminal damaging: A woman in the 3100 block of Hadley Avenue reported a brick was thrown through three windows to her apartment.
Jan. 12
Recovered property: A vehicle’s license plate was found in the 4200 block of Belmont Avenue.
Arrest: Acting on a tip, police took a 47-year-old Youngstown man into custody at gunpoint after saying he hid from them under a trailer on Scott Street. He was wanted on a warrant from the township.
Theft: A Cleveland man, 51, was charged after an employee with Denny’s Restaurant, 4020 Belmont Ave., said the man ordered a $17.44 meal and had no means to pay. Police also discovered the man was wanted on a theft charge from Ashtabula County.
Jan. 13
Theft: Two women stole at least eight DVDs from Movie Gallery, 3551 Belmont Ave., costing the store $120.
Drugs: After stopping a vehicle near Naylor-Lloyd Road and state Route 193, authorities arrested a 20-year-old Warren man on a charge of possession of dangerous drugs after saying they found a bag with five muscle relaxers the man claimed were for his girlfriend. The girlfriend, however, disputed his assertion, the report showed.
Jan. 14
Breaking and entering: Someone broke a rear window to a home in the 4000 block of Belmont Avenue and removed an air compressor and electrical cords, for a loss of $260.
Aggravated menacing: A Trumbull Court woman accused her former boyfriend, 29, of threatening to shoot her while following the accuser to her apartment.
Theft: A Warren woman discovered two unauthorized withdrawals had been made at the Liberty branch of her bank using her debit card information.
Theft: A newspaper box was removed from property in the 6600 block of Belmont Avenue.
Theft: Police were told a 34-year-old Centerbury, Ohio, man obtained $100 worth of diesel fuel from a BP station, 2703 Belmont Ave., that he claimed to have forgotten his wallet and that he failed to make arrangements to pay.
Assault: A Hadley Avenue girl alleged her former boyfriend, 18, demanded entry to her home and, once inside, grabbed and choked her. The man was taken into custody.
HUBBARD
Jan. 11
Criminal mischief: A woman reported someone slashed her son’s bicycle’s tire while the son was in the 40 block of Hillview Drive.
Weapon: Authorities were called to Hubbard High School, 350 Hall Ave., in reference to a male student said to have brought a knife to school.
Jan. 13
Weapon: A Hubbard man was arrested after police received a call from another person saying the man was intoxicated and had a gun.
Criminal damaging: A window was damaged to a building in the 100 block of Youngstown-Hubbard Road.
Jan. 14
Menacing: An East Market Street woman said her mother-in-law made threats against her.
Theft: A woman in the 300 block of Hall Avenue reported the theft of money from her home.
Theft: A man in a green vehicle left a Shell True North station, 204 W. Liberty St., without paying for gasoline.
