BOARDMAN — The Mahoning Valley chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry will hold its 2008 Home Makeover Expo from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Mr. Anthony’s. Attendees can talk to area experts in the remodeling industry who will show the latest design ideas in kitchens, baths, flooring, windows, doors, landscaping and outdoor decks.

Nationwide to cut,
move 1,000 jobs

COLUMBUS — Nationwide Insurance says it will cut or move 1,000 jobs, including 200 layoffs in its hometown here.

Nationwide wants to reduce costs and stay in position for long-term growth in the face of a weakening economy and tough competition, said spokesman Joe Case. The Columbus job cuts will begin next month.

Most of the affected jobs are in the property and casualty division, which makes up two-thirds of the company and includes auto, homeowners and commercial insurance. Nationwide has nearly 36,000 employees total.
