“George of the Jungle” (7:30 p.m., Cartoon Network): He starred in a classic cartoon series 40 years ago and reappeared in a 1997 live action theatrical film. Now a different George, complete with a new version of his catchy theme song, swings into the prime-time jungle along with pals Ursula, Magnolia, an elephant named Shep and, of course, his trusty ape named Ape. Produced in 2-D flash animation, the 26-episode series follows George as he protects the animals and environment in the imaginary jungle of Mbebwe.

“Friday Night Lights” (9 p.m., NBC): On “Friday Night Lights,” the focus turns to fledgling relationships. In the Saracen household, Matt comes to the realization that he is actually in love with his grandma’s at-home nurse. Meanwhile, Brian “Smash” Williams learns that those close to him may not be ready for interracial dating.
